Katy Perry

Katy Perry je americká zpěvačka a textařka, která se narodila v Santa Barbaře v Kalifornii 25. října 1984. Její vlastní jméno je Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. Pochází z rodiny pastorů, se zpěvem začínala v kostele, vyrůstala na gospelové hudbě. Navštěvovala střední školu Dos Pueblos High School, studium dokončila v roce 2003. Brzy nato, ve svých 18 letech, odjela do Los Angeles. Protože její jméno příliš připomínalo herečku Kate Hudson, změnila si příjmení na Perry, tedy na příjmení, které užívala její matka za svobodna. Svoje první album vydala Katy Perry už v roce 2001, nebyl to však styl, který známe dnes, jednalo se totiž o album křesťanských písní. Opravdový úspěch zažila však v roce 2008, kdy prorazila a zaujala se svým songem I Kissed A Girl, jehož pouhý název je provokativní. V tomto roce vydala své vlastně první opravdové album s názvem One of the Boys, které zaznamenalo velký komerční úspěch. Skladba I Kissed A Girl ovládla první příčky hitparád ve více než 30 zemích světa, toho roku byl zveřejněn i videoklip k této písni, který byl rovněž provokativní a odvážný, stejně jako samotný text písně. Další písně z tohoto alba byly neméně úspěšné. Sama Katy Perry o sobě říká: "že je věřící, že jen ráda zlobí".

V mládí Katy Perry ovlivnilo mnoho hudebníků a skupin. Patří sem například Alanis Morissette, Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett a Shirley Manson. Ze skupin se jedná o Queen, kterou považuje za největší inspiraci, dále je to například skupina Heart. Katy Perry je již celosvětově známá nejen díky svým provokativním písním, ale také díky svému nekonvenčnímu způsobu oblékání, mnohdy nosí šaty velmi originální, většinou zářivě barevné, ozdobené velkým množstvím šperků a doplňků například ve tvaru ovoce.
